spring is fast approaching in the studio

Kinder work since Christmas......paper manipulation, cutting, gluing, and lots of drawings focusing on the direction of lines and shapes.....the color wheel.....and Rodeo ideas and images.....currently we are working on 2-D and 3-D spiders........ we recently completed our clay pinch pots.

1st grade work since Christmas.....the study of Georgia O'Keeffe, her work, her life and her images, looking closely at flowers and the direction of lines,.....rodeo idea and images....review of painting skills and the color wheel.....currently we are working on symmetry and closely looking at specific butterflies and the direction of the lines that make their shapes.....lots of drawings......we recently completed our clay turtles.

2nd grade works since Christmas.....rodeo ideas and images....color wheel review.....review of overlapping and size variance....the visual study of fish and underwater life, real and imagined.....crayon resist and the blending of watercolor paint.......we recently completed our clay big-mouth creatures.  

3rd grade work since Christmas.....lots of drawings using 3-D animal models...Mexican Bark Paintings are introduced and animal images are drawn on brown paper to begin a large painting with tempera paint.....these painting will most probably be completed in another three weeks....lots of discussion on painting techniques, brushes, etc......lots of fun!!!!

4th grade work....the study of the timeline and a good discussion on just why we think people make art is followed by the study of the Ancient Egyptian culture.....cartouches, paper mummy cases, and clay cases and mummies will complete our studies in about three more weeks.

5th grade work since Christmas.......the completion of a long project focused on the Middle Ages and Illuminated manuscripts......blending techniques with oil pastels......non-objective work and a composition involving vessels, both using blending with oil pastels.
