K- Self-portraits were followed by a study of the color wheel, the primary and secondary colors and the two families of colors, hot and cool.  The making of paper Firebirds follows with shape reviews and paper manipulation skills.  This paper project takes about 4 weeks to complete.

st- Self-portraits were followed by a review of the color wheel, colors and a review of the firebirds from last year.  This year cool colors are used in the making of a bird.  More advanced cutting and paper skills are presented.  Many more choices are given to the students concerning colors and paper decorations. Pockets are introduced to be used as backpacks to hold baby birds.  This paper project takes about 4 weeks to complete.

nd- After studying lines and drawing snakes, each student makes a tagboard snake and designs the snake with an interested and varied design.  After completing the 2-D snake, the students are introduced to scoring and I score the middle of the snake so that the snake will fold perfectly in the middle, (down the spine), to make the snakes 3-D.  Hinged mouths are made and added, tounges and fangs may also be added.  This project takes about 4 weeks to complete. Vocabulary- linear, parallel lines

rd- Self -portraits were followed by an introduction into city skylines. The idea of repetition with variation to make an interesting design is discussed.  Using this idea, each student is creating their own cityscape on black paper.  Their city may be realistic or abstract in design and color and details. After finishing the cities, the students will paint a sky that the cities will be glued onto to finish their cityscape collage.  This project takes 4-5 weeks to complete.

th- Self-portraits were followed by an assessment of each student's general and specific knowledge of art terms, ideas, feeling, etc.  This was followed by a clay lesson, rattles.  Lots of choices, but they must produce sound!!  fun!!

th- Self-portraits were followed by an assessment of each student's general and specific knowledge of art terms, ideas, feelings, etc. A study of the Middle Ages and Illuminated Manuscripts follows. This project takes around 6 weeks.
