We have been crazy busy in our Art Studio. Lots of 3-D work and lots of exhibits and programs!!! Here is a short description of what we've been doing and where we're headed.
K......after studying and drawing spiders in 2-D, we then built a 3-D spider with paper and glued it standing up on it's web....drawings contine of simple animals, turtles, crocodiles, lizards....color theory begins with a Chinese Rainbow Fan following as their take home project
1st.......turtles, turtles everywhere, 2-D, 3-D, ending with the Art Exhibit April 12....drawings follow after several Folk Tale stories are read and discussed, spiders, crocodiles, birds.....color theory follows with an ending project mixing colors using the primary colors.....tempera
2nd.......following big mouth creatures in clay, the students discussed bullying from the perspective of all people involved, (discussions usually lasted an entire class period)...this was followed by a creative 2-D picture describing visually why we want to be "bullydozers" and do away with all forms of bullying...continuing drawing
3rd.......last of the paintings made it home......boxes, 3-D, were mastered in all sizes......drawing continued into the beginning stages of a cityscape which will become a major collage piece
4th.......after viewing and discussing the Roseton norte at Notre Dame, each student created their own radial design, watercolored it and used colored pencil selectively.....the making of cardboard looms follow for weavings with yard
5th.....rendering with oil pastels with emphasis on good blending and clarity of images will then be followed by handbuilt coil candle holders, glazed, with candles
